    This talk provides the definitive overview of the Standard Widget Toolkit (SWT), a native user interface class library for Java.


    Steve Northover

    Steve Northover is the principal architect of SWT. Northover is the SWT team lead for the Eclipse project, and works at the IBM OTI Lab in Ottawa. His areas of expertise include performance, operating system programming and native user interface toolkits. He is the lead author of the book "SWT: The Standard Widget Toolkit, Volume 1".


    Grant Gayed

    Grant Gayed has been an SWT committer since work began on Eclipse 2.0. His areas of expertise include widgets, accessibility and X Windows based systems. Previous to SWT, he worked in the UI groups for Eclipse and VisualAge for Java.


    Second Half:

    Eclipse Web Tools Platform Project Overview

    The Web Tools Platform (WTP) Project extends Eclipse into the domain of Web and J2EE application development. WTP provides both a set of core tools for application developers and a platform API for tool developers. This presentation describes the scope, structure, and goals of the WTP project, and gives an overview of the tools and APIs in its Web Standard Tools and J2EE Standard Tools subprojects. The presentation also includes a demonstration of the latest WTP Milestone release.


    Tim deBoer, IBM Toronto Lab

    Tim deBoer is the development manager of the WebSphere Application Server Toolkit, Server Tools team at the IBM Toronto Lab. His team develops the WebSphere Test Environment, Tomcat support, and EJB test client which are included in the WebSphere Studio and Rational family of products. He's also the developer of CodeRally and CodeRuler, two Java programming games based on Eclipse.
