    Ronald F.E. Weissman, Ph.D., Apax Partners

    Ronald Weissman is a Venture Partner with Apax Partners and joined the firm in 2000. Apax Partners is a leader in global private equity, with more than $12B under management and more than 300 portfolio companies worldwide.

    Weissman's focus is on infrastructure and enterprise software and services with a special emphasis on IT investing and post-investment support for companies across the global Apax network. He is on the Boards of CenterBeam, Milcom and Solid Information Technology and serves as an advisor to many other Apax portfolio companies including Composite Software, Confluent Software, HAL KS, Kamoon, Linuxcare and Visalign. He was one of three IT industry leaders profiled in the PriceWaterhouseCoopers 2003-2005 Technology Forecast.

    Weissman has more than twenty-five years of experience in high technology operations and marketing. Prior to joining Apax Partners, he was Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Marketing for Verity, a global leader in corporate information retrieval software. During his tenure, Verity's executive team was awarded the large company turnaround of the year (1999) by the Turnaround Management Association and the company saw its market capitalization grow from under $50 million to more than $1.5 billion, and was listed two years running among the top ten technology stocks by the New York Times. Prior to Verity, Dr. Weissman spent more than five years at NeXT Computer, where he managed European and Corporate Marketing. A frequent conference speaker, he has published extensively on software trends and has been an advisory board member or consultant for Apple, IBM, Microsoft, Active Software, Vigilance, and many departments of the U.S. Government.

    A member of Phi Beta Kappa and a Fulbright Scholar, he received his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California at Berkeley. He is an Overseer of the University of Pennsylvania Libraries and an Associate Trustee of the University and is also a member of the San Francisco Opera's Medallion Society.
