    Starting a technology company requires more time and resources than the typical entrepreneur has available. How do you do it? What do you do first? Where should you spend your time? In this session we will present the steps for launching a company together with insights for avoiding the pitfalls that confront every startup. Our panel of entrepreneurs will share their experiences in starting and launching companies and the challenges they faced.

    During this interactive three-hours, you will learn what to expect as you begin and grow your company. You will gain insight into the steps and amount of time required to:

    • Gather your founding team, advisors & consultants and secure a company name, domain name & incorporate
    • Develop an elevator pitch, executive summary and business plan
    • Hire an attorney, initial employees (issue options) and an accountant
    • Secure initial financing & allocate founders stock and adopt a stock option plan
    • Lease facilities & file provisional patent and trademark applications

    Susan A. Morgan, Esq., Fenwick & West, LLP

    Susan A. Morgan is a corporate attorney at Fenwick & West LLP. Sue was a founder of the company that produced MacInTax, the income tax program for the Macintosh. Sue advises many startup technology companies on a wide range of topics including formation, stock ownership, employment and venture capital financing issues.

    Rob Dellenbach is a corporate and intellectual property partner at Fenwick & West LLP. Rob has worked with many clients in a broad range of activities including incorporations, venture and bridge financings, stock option plans, licensing, strategic partnering, distribution, development and purchase agreements, domestic and international joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions, and public offerings.
