The Monthly Meeting of the Business Intelligence SIG: Building scalable OLAP applications with Mondrian and Pentaho
Mondrian is the leading open-source OLAP engine, and is part of the Pentaho open-source BI suite. Julian will describe how to build scalable OLAP applications using Mondrian and the Pentaho suite.
The session will cover OLAP use-cases, and strategies and considerations for schema design, use of aggregate tables, and tuning.
Speaker: Julian Hyde
Julian is also the founder and lead developer of Mondrian, the leading open-source OLAP engine, and part of the Pentaho open-source BI Suite.
He is also a founder and the Chief Architect of SQLstream, Inc., a platform for Relational Asynchronous Messaging, and is an expert on relational query optimization and execution, ETL and OLAP. Before SQLstream, Julian led the design of the query optimizer and execution engine of the Broadbase DBMS and ETL engine at Broadbase Software (now KANA Software). He was an engineer at Oracle for 6 years, working on text search and bitmap indexes in the Oracle kernel.
Julian Hyde holds a BA in Computer Science from Cambridge University.
