    Architecture for Wireless Acces in Vehicles

    With the recent advancement of mobile wireless technologies including wireless LANs and Mobile Access Routers, it has become viable to create a network-in-motion inside a vehicle. This talk presents an architecture for wireless access in vehicles to facilitate real-world deployments. The possibility for innovative, multimedia applications on this versatile architecture is endless.


     

    About the Presenters

    Steve Sommer

    Steve Sommer is president and CEO of AirPrism, Inc., a provider software that helps enterprises address the unique challenges of deploying, securing, managing and supporting mission-critical mobile devices. Steve has extensive experience in enterprise software, particularly in marketing, alliances, business development, and sales. Prior to joining AirPrism, Steve was SVP of marketing and business development at Portal Software. Before joining Portal, he was VP of worldwide marketing at Informix Software. His previous work experience includes positions at Cognos, Digital Equipment Corporation, Procter & Gamble, and McKinsey & Company. Steve holds B.S. degrees in chemical engineering and management from M.I.T. and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
     

    Alex Chan

    Alex Chan leads product development in the New Business Ventures group at Cisco Systems, actively launching startups within the company. Having been with Cisco since 1998, Alex created and managed a product line for developing and deploying voice over IP applications in the Voice Technology Group. He also represented Cisco at the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) to drive the development and standardization of XML technologies. Prior to that, Alex created new software products at Aspect Communications and Symantec. Alex holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, a Master's degree in computer science from the University of Waterloo, and a BSc in computer science from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

    Outside of work, Alex is active in the professional community. He serves as the President of the Chinese Software Professionals Association, as well as Member of the Executive Council and Co-Chair of the Wireless & Voice SIG at the Software Development Forum.
