    Angel Pitch Night

    Come listen to, and pitch to, angels from several of the local Silicon Valley angel groups, includingthe Harvard Angels and Golden Gate Angels. Learn about the the views of angels as to what is interesting now, terms they are seeing in angel deals and what their predictions are for 2012. At the event, the panel of angles will also talk about their approach to investing, how to write an effective executive summary and give an effective funding pitch from the eyes of angels, the common traits of those companies selected to present to their respective angel groups and those which ultimately were funded. We will select 8 ventures to do short 3 minute pitches followed by 3 minutes of feedback from the group at the event (speed angel dating).

    Shannon Carter, Golden Gate Angels
    Shannon Lydell Carter, a serial entrepreneur and business builder, has over 20 years of corporate development, marketing, interim management and capital acquisition experience in the software, Internet, communications, mailing/logistics and financial services industries. As an active investor and co-founder, Mr. Carter mentors San Francisco based startup and SMB software entrepreneurs. Shannon is a Co-Managing Director of the Golden Gate Angels. Shannon received his BA from Cal State Hayward and MBA from University of Phoenix.

    Sean Jacobsohn, Co-President HBS Angels
    Sean Jacobsohn has been an alliances and sales executive in the technology-enabled business services space since 1999. He's VP of Worldwide Alliances at YouSendIt, a cloud collaboration solution with over 28 million users. Prior to YouSendIt, he was VP of Channel Management at Cornerstone OnDemand, a human capital management software-as-a-service provider, which had an IPO in March 2011. Sean helped grow the company from $7 million to $75 million in revenue and 300,000 subscribers to over 7.5 million, the second most of any software-as-a-service company in the world. Before his tenure at Cornerstone OnDemand, Sean was VP Sales and Partner Development at WageWorks, a leading provider of consumer-directed spending solutions, which filed an S-1 for a proposed IPO in 2012 and grew from $3 million to $82 million in revenue during his tenure. Prior to WageWorks, Sean was a senior manager at Elance, the world’s largest marketplace of contractors. He has also held finance positions at Major League Baseball and The Prudential Realty Group. Jacobsohn has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BBA in Marketing, Finance, and International Business from University of Wisconsin. He is co-President and co-founder of the HBS Angels; advisor for Crosscut Ventures, Doximity, OneLogin, and Influitive; member of the HBS Alumni Board.

    J.C Sarner is an active angel investor, The Angels Forum:
    A high-tech veteran, J.C brings operational expertise developed over the course of a 20-year general management, sales and marketing career in the software industry. He started a number of businesses and organizations from scratch, successfully bringing software solutions to developers of internet infrastructure, telecom, automotive and other electronic devices. He participated in the creation of the Microcomputer Software Group at Intel, before taking leading roles at software companies such as Diab Data, Integrated Systems and creating a new business unit at Wind River. On the M&A front, J.C Sarner has repeatedly been on both sides of the coin. In particular, he co-founded Optimizing Software Tools, Inc. where he was instrumental in the management buy-out of Diab Data.

    J.C invests in Seed and A rounds of early stage companies located in the Bay Area, in the following sectors: * Life sciences, with a concentration in medical devices * Hi Tech, mostly software * Retail / Consumer. J.C holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School, where he graduated in 1984.

    Tom Cervantez is the Founder of the Golden Gate Angels and Harvard Angels and a corporate and venture law attorney. Tom has over 19 years experience investing in Silicon Valley as an angel and advising investors and CEOs as a venture capital attorney. Tom's core area of focus is the securities and finance field, with a focus on helping emerging growth companies, venture funds, and software and hardware computer companies navigate issues concerning securities, capital structure planning, private placements, mergers and acquisitions, venture financing and licensing transactions. Tom has also participated at an operating level at several companies, including a venture fund, boutique investment bank and an ISP. Tom is also an active angel investor in the computer, communications and networking sectors and runs the Harvard Angels (the global alumni angel investor group for Harvard University) and the Golden Gate Angels investor group in San Francisco. Tom holds a Bachelor's in Business Administration, magna cum laude, from Loyola Marymount University, a JD from Harvard Law School and a MBA from Harvard Business School.
