What are the different types loans available for early stage/venture backed companies and how can it be beneficial for a growing company?
Some of the topics that will be discussed are:

•Types of debt structures
•Pricing (interest, warrants, etc)
•Benefits (extending runway and increasing valuation)
•Timing (when to initiate discussions with lenders)
•Pitfalls and downside of taking on venture debt
•Trends in the venture debt marketplace
-Rob Helm, Principal, Gold Hill Capital
Rob structures new opportunities, manages client relationships, performs due diligence and monitors portfolio investments. Before joining Gold Hill, Rob was an Associate with Silicon Valley Bank's Palo Alto office. In that role, he helped manage a portfolio of clients within the software and services industry. Rob was responsible for performing due diligence, structuring and underwriting debt facilities, and monitoring the credit risk of the portfolio. Previously, Rob was a credit analyst with Silicon Valley Bank's Online Services and Life Science Group. Rob holds a BS in Finance from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
-Tim Walsh, Senior Relationship Manager, SVB Silicon Valley Bank
Tim has sixteen years of experience in financial services and has been with Silicon Valley Bank since 1997. At SVB, Tim is responsible for developing new relationships and structuring debt facilities for technology companies. Prior to SVB, Tim was a business development officer and managed a $200MM portfolio of asset-based credit facilities for NBD Bank in Detroit Michigan. Tim has a BA from Indiana University.
-John Pritchard, Managing Director, VenCore Solutions
John serves as Managing Director for VenCore’s San Francisco office, where he is responsible for providing a variety of financing solutions including equipment leases, working capital loans and bridge financing. For the past ten years in the venture lending sector, John has provided venture debt to more than 150 early-stage technology companies. Prior to this, he consulted internationally on regional planning and environmental issues. John has a Master’s from Cornell University in Environmental Resource Planning and International Development, and a B.S. from Humboldt State University. He, his wife and three children live in Napa.
-Shai Goldman, SVB Capital
Shai Goldman is part of the SVB Capital's Venture Exchange program, which serves as a platform to provide quality referrals to venture firms and assist emerging companies in raising capital through strategic introductions to the right investors for their business. His responsibilities include identifying investment opportunities for SVB Capital Partners Fund and other venture capital firms. Goldman joined SVB Financial Group in December 2001. Prior to joining the Venture Exchange program in 2006, Goldman worked with SVB Private Client Services, providing personal financing solutions to entrepreneurs, investors and senior executives in the technology, life science, private equity and premium wine industries. Goldman holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Santa Clara University. Goldman is the co-chair of SDForum's Venture Finance SIG, a group dedicated to helping early-stage entrepreneurs prepare to meet with and attain funding from the venture capital community. Since 2004, Goldman has also been a mentor for BUILD, a non-profit organization committed to motivating underserved high school students to succeed in school and go onto higher education, by helping them start and run their own businesses.
