    Venture Dinner

On behalf of SDForum,  we are pleased to announce the April 28th launch of our quarterly dinner series on the subject of “The Future of Technology". The SDForum Venture Club will provide a more intimate format for quality discussions, since they are by invitation only for our venture sponsors and Board of Directors. Each dinner will be hosted by an SDForum technology partner, and feature a senior executive speaking about the Future of Technology and their insights as an industry leader.

The first dinner will be Monday, April 28th from 6:00 to 9pm at Microsoft, and we are pleased to announce that Enrique Rodriquez will be the Guest of Honor. Enrique is Corporate Vice President of Microsoft in charge of TV.

    Topic:
    TV Gets Connected
The TV set is the only major digital device that has been left out of the internet networking revolution.  TV today is like the personal computer in the 1980s, an unconnected and isolated island of technology, falling behind in terms of connectivity, personalization and social features. But all of this is changing.  By connecting the TV to an intelligent two-way network and adding powerful software and technology, new connected and personalized experiences become possible, thus creating great opportunities for technologists, content providers, service providers and consumers.

    Presenter
Enrique Rodriguez, Corporate Vice President, Microsoft
, Rodriguez heads Microsoft Connected TV, which includes Microsoft TV and eHome business groups. Prior to his current role, Rodriquez served as corporate vice president for the Microsoft TV Business, driving the strategy leading the teams responsible for the development, marketing, sale and deployment of Microsoft’s software and service solutions for the digital television industry worldwide.  Before heading Microsoft TV, Rodriguez served as vice president of Xbox Partnerships, where he was a key contributor to the launch of Xbox and Xbox 360 products and services. In this role, he led the team defining the expansion of the Xbox 360 platform to non-gaming entertainment applications.

Rodriguez brings extensive experience working with service providers to deliver innovative products and services to market. Prior to joining Microsoft in 2003, Rodriguez spent over 20 years at Thomson/RCA, where he served in a variety of engineering and executive roles. Rodriguez earned  a B.S. in electrical engineering Instituto TecnolÓgico de Monterrey and  holds more than 25 U.S. patents and numerous international derivatives. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from in 1982.
