    Presentation Overview

    The SDForum Venture Finance SIG presents a rare opportunity to pitch and receive valuable feedback from the software team at top Silicon Valley venture firm Lightspeed Venture Partners.

    Three members of this prestigious firm will join us to present their take on the software market and opportunities for emerging companies as well as their current areas of interest.

    A small number of pre-selected entrepreneurs will have ten minutes to pitch their business and get feedback on their presentations from Lightspeed's Software Team.

    About the Presenters

    Anchor Ravi is a founding partner of Lightspeed Venture Partners, and primarily focuses on enterprise software and IT services investments. He has seven years of venture capital experience and six years of operating experience. Before joining Weiss, Peck & Greer Venture Partners in 1999, Ravi was with Bessemer Venture Partners, and invested in NetGenesis Software [NTGX], Verio [VRIO], VIA-Networks [VNWI], Webspective Software (acquired by Inktomi) and InCert Software (acquired by Geodesic).

    Previously, Ravi ran market development efforts for the engineering workstation division of Silicon Graphics, and also worked at Lehman Brothers and Booz Allen Hamilton. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering, an AB in Economics, and an MBA from Stanford University.

    Anchor Carl is a general partner at Lightspeed, focusing primarily on networking software, systems and semiconductor investments. With more than twelve years of operating experience, Carl joined Lightspeed in 2002. Previously, Carl was Vice President of Worldwide Marketing at Juniper Networks, where he led global marketing and product management. Prior to Juniper, Carl served as Vice President of Dial and Broadband Services for UUNET, and held various management positions at ANS, an AOL company, where he led the Global provisioning of the ANS IP modem build-out for AOL. Carl began his career at Bellcore, focusing on network security and packetized data services.

    Carl holds a BS degree in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia and an MS degree in Engineering-Economic Systems from Stanford University.

    Anchor Ken primarily focuses on enterprise software and infrastructure investments. Before joining Lightspeed in 2001, Ken was a Senior Associate at Battery Ventures where he also focused on software.

    Previously, Ken worked at Radius Inc. as Director of International Sales and Marketing and a member of the Radius executive staff. He has also held various marketing and business development positions at Claris Corporation and RealNetworks. He holds a BS in Economics from the Wharton undergraduate division at the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

    Anchor Philip is Northern California Practice Leader for SVB's Emerging Tech Division and a team leader in the bank's Peninsula office based in Palo Alto. His group manages 500 client relationships with technology and life sciences companies and provides a unique combination of products and services specifically geared towards very early stage companies. These services include access to industry specific entrepreneurial and investor events and referrals to key partners and alliances.

    Philip has worked at Silicon Valley Bank since 1998 and previously focused on trade finance at commercial banks and the Federal Reserve System. Philip holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Maryland and an MBA from Thunderbird.
