Russell Hinds, Founder, VP of Operations & CFO at Sponsorwise
Russell Hinds brings over 17 years of finance, business and technical experience to the Sponsorwise team. From April 1998 to May 2000, Mr. Hinds held several positions with Virage Logic Corp., a provider of embedded memory technologies that power the Internet and communications infrastructure. He served as Manager of Applications Engineering and Technical Marketing in 1998 and Manager of Business Development and Foundry Relations in 1999. From 1992 to 1998, Mr. Hinds was President of RSH Investments, an investment and management company focused on Real Estate and Technology. Mr. Hinds was responsible for all financial aspects of evaluating, acquiring and overseeing a $6 Million portfolio of properties. Mr. Hinds received his BS EECS/MSE from University of California Berkeley in 1984, and an MS EECS from UC Berkeley in 1985. Additionally he has completed executive training courses at Stanford University.
John Russo, Angel Investor and Entrepreneur
John has been an active participant in Silicon Valley for over 20 years. He was one of the founding members of the HDTV research team at RCAs Sarnoff Labs in Princeton NJ and has spent time at HP and Sun Microsystems on the operating side. In the finance area, John was a research associate with venture fund Merril Pickard Anderson & Eyre. John's big hit was the launch of his company Geonet Communications, an early ISP that was successfully sold to Level 3 in 1998. John has invested in a number of companies and has advised many in the area of fund raising and operating a successful tech venture. John received a BSEE from Rensselaer, a MSEE from Princeton and a MBA from the Univ. of Chicago.
Sean Salloux, CEO at World Energy Labs
Prior to joining WEL, Mr. Salloux was Director of Partnerships, NorAm at Gemplus (Nasdaq: GEMP) in their North/South American HQ in SF. In 2001, Gemplus was the #1 Smart Card manufacturer in the world, and #2 supplier of SIM cards to mobile telecom operators around the world. Prior to Gemplus, Mr. Salloux worked in the Venture Capital arm of Gemplus in London with positions in the US and Korea. In 1999 he took an MBA from London Business School. Prior to business school, Mr. Salloux founded a consulting group targeting startups and consulted to companies in the UK, Australia, Japan and the US. He also consulted for the WWB, an shootoff of the World Bank, on micro-finance in India and the Dominican Republic. Prior to consulting he started an exporting venture, Boston International, grew the company to over 100 employees and sold it in 1994. Between 1986 and 1988 he studied Aeronautical Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Inst. (RPI). Mr. Salloux has lived, worked and traveled in over 20 countries.
Andy Scott, Partner at Worldwide Capital Partners, LLC
Andy has over six years experience in business development, sales, marketing and venture financing with early stage technology companies. Prior to joining Worldwide Capital, Andy was the Vice President of Investor Strategy at Garage Technology Ventures, a venture capital investment bank. As the first employee of Garage, he was responsible for building Garage's relationships with over 3,000 venture capital, corporate and individual investors. In addition, Andy was a key advisor to senior management teams of over 40 software, wireless, infrastructure and telecom startup companies, and helped raise over $150 million for these companies. He was responsible for introducing his clients to key strategic partners including Oracle, Microsoft, Intel and Compaq.
Previously, Andy was a consultant for several Internet and software companies including Peapod, Macromedia, and Perceptual Robotics Inc. Andy was a Kauffman Foundation Intern at Evanston Business Investment Corp, a seed venture capital firm which invests in technology startups. Prior to business school, he was a Marketing Manager for a sports marketing firm in Hong Kong, and a General Manager at a food brokerage and distribution company in Seattle. He holds a B.A. from Northwestern University, and a M.B.A. from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
Andrew R. Wagner, Co-founder - Tradewinds Capital Management
Mr. Wagner has more than 14 years experience working with middle market and venture capital-backed companies. Prior to co-founding Tradewinds, he was a Principal with Berkeley International Capital Corporation for more than nine years. Mr. Wagner was responsible for the origination, analysis, structuring, closing, and monitoring of mezzanine debt investments for Berkeley's high-yield portfolio. This funding included management buyouts, leveraged recapitalizations and growth financing for middle market companies. During his tenure at Berkeley, Mr. Wagner participated in closing 29 transactions, totaling more than $390 million, and led three of the firm's mezzanine debt transactions, with placements of $28.5 million. Previously, he was responsible for analysis and monitoring of Berkeley's venture capital investments. Prior to joining Berkeley, Mr. Wagner served as an Analyst for Calny, Inc., a restaurant franchise operator. Mr. Wagner is a Director of Landmark Creations, LLC. He is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley where he received a B.S. degree in Business Administration, emphases in finance and marketing.
Tom Cervantez, Partner at Thelen Reid & Priest LLP
Tom has over 15 years experience working in the securities and finance field, with a focus on helping emerging growth companies, venture funds, and software and hardware computer companies navigate issues concerning securities, capital structure planning, private placements, mergers and acquisitions, venture financing and licensing transactions. Tom has also participated at an operating level at several companies, including a venture fund, boutique investment bank and an ISP. Tom's most recent venture was the formation of Britton Silberman & Cervantez LLP, which was acquired by Thelen Reid & Priest LLP in June of 2000. Tom holds a Bachelor's in Business Administration, magna cum laude, from Loyola Marymount University, a JD from Harvard Law School and a MBA from Harvard Business School.
