    Presentation Overview

    The last three years have been tough for the angel investors, but it looks like the market shake-out has finished and angels are coming back to the table. Come listen to representatives of the Sand Hill Angels, Golden Gate Angels, International Angels and select VCs talk about the angel investing environment, what interaction is like now between the angel and vc communities, what technology areas look promising and their perspective on how to get traction in the angel market. We will also accept for pitching 5 companies, in the areas of security, networking, ecommerce, VOIP, enterprise applications, Internet and related computer software/hardware application fields.

    About the Presenters

    Randy Williams

    Randy Williams founded the Keiretsu Forum in September 2000 in order to provide a disciplined and structured approach to private equity investing. Randy's passion for private equity investing and bringing together like-minded community leaders has created a powerful and giving environment to the entrepreneur.



    Randy has 25 years of experience in finance and marketing and holds board and advisory positions in 8 companies. He is also Founder of the Williams Companies, an investment banking and advisory firm. The company provides resources, equity and key strategic business connections to facilitate company growth. Prior to the Williams Companies, Randy was President of Pacific Union Commercial Brokerage, founder of the LaMorinda Bank and Managing Director of Kennedy-Wilson International, an international real estate investment company. Randy graduated with BA from UC Berkeley and Masters from St. Mary's College.

     

    Osamu Tagaya, Chief Executive Officer of Angel Capital Network

    "Sam" Tagaya brings extensive experience in the field of international finance to Angel Capital Network , having spent 20 years as an investment banker with the Wall Street >>firms of Salomon Brothers and Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette. During that time he worked in the fields of structured private placements, commercial real estate syndication, institutional equity and fixed income distribution, and foreign exchange sales. Osamu has applied his skills and experience across three continents, having been based in New York, Tokyo, San Francisco and London during his professional career. Prior to joining Salomon Brothers, Osamu spent four years as a corporate attorney in New York City with the law firms of Shearman & Sterling and Wender, Murase and White. Born and raised in Japan, "Sam" spent part of his childhood in Montreal, Canada and completed his higher education in the United States. He holds a JD degree from Cornell University Law School and a BA from Tufts University (Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude).
     

    Steve Stephanson, Sand Hill Angels

    Steve Stephansen serves as President of Sand Hill Angels, LLC and has over 25 years of experience in enterprise software and semiconductor businesses and is accomplished in growing companies. Steve is currently CEO of WebV2, Inc. . WebV2 markets a distributed business process execution product that enables an enterprise to build dynamic process networks across its extended value chain. Mr. Stephansen was also the VP of Marketing, Sales, and Business Development at venture backed, Information Storage Devices. He grew sales from $0 to $55M/annum within four years that led to successful IPO and secondary public offerings. ISD was recognized as the third fastest growing high tech company in Silicon Valley over his four year tenure (Deloitte & Touche). Mr. Stephansen has served as VP of Marketing and Sales at BeHere and nChip, both venture backed firms. He also served in a variety of management roles at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) including VP of Strategic Marketing. He has also provided management consulting to a number of companies involved in software and semiconductor businesses. Mr. Stephansen received his BS in electrical engineering from Lehigh University, an MS in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from Santa Clara University, and has attended the Stanford Executive Program at the Stanford Business School.
     

    Hal Nissley, International Angel Investors

    Hal Nissley is an experienced angel investor and entrepreneur. Hal has worked with or been an advisor or investor in a number of ventures, including Fair Housing Inc.; Display & Decisions Systems Ltd; Oracle; Stanford Savings & Loan; Forward Tech, a forerunner of SUN; E-Mu (Creative Labs); Digital Dynamics; Advanced Drilling; Pyramid Tech (Siemens); Accelerated Processors; Giga Ops; Log Point; Rammus Vision; Centegy; Speedlane; BriteArt; Futori; Team Bridge; Myo Analytics (muscle mapping); Eyden Doc. Hal earned his BS/MS engineering, math, Ops Research, Case WRU and is a Registered Professional Engineer (PE), Hal also earned a BS Law, Peninsula College. Hal is an active lecturer in the field of entrepreneurship and founded the International Angel Investors.Org in 1999.
     

    Alex Lloyd, Venture Partner, Rustic Canyon

    Alexander Lloyd joined Rustic Canyon as a Venture Partner in 2003. Before joining Rustic Canyon, Alexander was founding partner of Accelerator Venture Partners, a San Francisco-based partnership that >>invests in and consults with early stage technology companies. Alexander has made investments in a broad range of technology startups including Connectify, which was acquired by Kana (Nasdaq:KANA), Vykor, Vivato, and Cloudmark. Prior to founding Accelerator Venture Partners, Alexander was the Business Development Manager in Microsoft's Silicon Valley office responsible for Microsoft's relationships with the West Coast venture capital community. Alexander has also worked as a Product Manager in SGI's workstation division and has held marketing positions at Activision and Apple Computer. Alexander began his career at Goldman Sachs, where he spent three years as a financial analyst.

    Alexander received a BA in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA in Entrepreneurial Management from The Wharton School. He is also on the board of Junior Achievement of the Bay Area and the founder and president of SMAC (San Francisco Media Arts Council).
     

    Tom Cervantez, Founder Golden Gate Angels and Partner, Davis Wright Tremaine LLP

    Tom is a Partner in the Corporate and Securities Group of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP in San Francisco. Tom has over 15 years experience working in the securities and finance field, with a focus on helping emerging growth companies, venture funds, and software and hardware computer companies navigate issues concerning securities, capital structure planning, private placements, mergers and acquisitions, venture financing and licensing transactions. Tom has also participated at an operating level at several companies, including a venture fund, boutique investment bank and an ISP. Tom's most recent venture was the formation of Britton Silberman & Cervantez LLP, which was acquired in June of 2000. Tom also founded the Golden Gate Angels investor group in San Francisco, targeting early stage investments in technology, communications and consumer retail ventures. Tom holds a Bachelor's in Business Administration, magna cum laude, from Loyola Marymount University, a JD from Harvard Law School and a MBA from Harvard Business School.
