    What makes investors invest when it comes to the team?  Who are “must have” players to raise money and to run the company from formation to the one year anniversary?

    Building a team of founders and engineers is a hard thing to do – the initial founder/founders must sell the vision to the critical team members and get their commitment when there is nothing there but a dream.    Come listen to serial entrepreneurs, investors and long-time headhunters and advisors as they cover their perspective on successful team building during the first 12 months from “idea” to “company”  Topics to be covered include:

    -Who are the critical “first 12 month” team members now for your ventures?
    -What do investors and VCs believe are the crucial team members – what is a show stopper?
    -What are the developing norms for equity participation by different team members?
    -How do you work with headhunters?  Are there any that work for “equity” as well – so the company conserves cash?

    Panelist:

    Mr. Charles R. Boggs –Chuck  works with early stage high technology clients to develop and execute funding campaigns, recruit senior executives and establish early customer and strategic relationships.

    Mr. Boggs has successfully worked on funding and corporate development for several Medical Device companies including Gynesonics, Vascular Closure Systems, Aalnex, SpineWorks, XLumena and LifeGuard Surgical Systems.

    Mr. Boggs co-founded Centegy Corporation an internet business solutions provider focused on the supply chain management market. Previously, as Vice President of NovaLink USA, he sold, designed and managed the development of more than 60 Website projects for clients; American Express Travel Services, Harvard’s Deaconess Medical Center, Digital Equipment Corporation, Liberty Mutual Insurance, Meissner & Wurst GMBH, Norton Corporation and Silicon Valley Bank.

    Mr. Boggs Management career spans more than 25 years during which he has served as a Senior Executive in a public company, taken a company public as CEO, served on the senior team of several start ups and authored several articles on Telecommunications Management and Technology. Mr. Boggs attended San Francisco State University and majored in Radio, Television and Film Production.

    Mr. Boggs is a member of the Golden Gate Angels, Silicon Valley Association of Startup Entrepreneurs, Advisor to the Marina Technology Cluster, a member of the Strategic Venture Association and a member of the Parkinson’s Institute Advisory Board.

    CJ Bowden - CEO of MiniClip - C.J. Bowden is the CEO of Miniclip America, Inc. Bowden is an entrepreneur and operator with over 17 years of brand advertising sales experience (legacy media and online).

    Bowden was at Yahoo! from 2001-2005 where he helped build Yahoo!’s Entertainment business and executed its first multi-million dollar upfront studio deal. He managed annual advertising revenues in excess of $10 million working with Sony Pictures and Universal Studios. Bowden co-developed a unique video strategy at Yahoo! with the creation of Yahoo! AdVision (in partnership with Yahoo!’s Broadcast Division) which utilized Yahoo!’s data and targeting capabilities by tracking consumers who engaged with theatrical content (via AdVision) that enabled the studios to re-market to this audience during subsequent windows – i.e., home video and pay-per-view.

    Bowden left Yahoo! in 2005 and co-founded SlingShot Media with several ex-Yahoo! leaders, which was a production and branded entertainment company focused on developing original online programming for online distribution. The company was financed by entertainment impresario Peter Guber of Mandalay Entertainment.

    Bowden joined GoFish (with his SlingShot partners) as Vice President in October 2006 and transformed GoFish (now Betawave) from a video site into the first Kids’ vertical advertising network, which was recapitalized with a $22.5M raise in private placement funding in November 2008.

    Sajjad Masud -  is Co-Chair for Harvard Angels and is actively involved with several early stage companies as an investor or advisor. As an entrepreneur and accomplished executive, Sajjad has deep strategy and operations leadership experience at Fortune 500 companies as well as several technology start-up ventures. In addition to helping start-ups in various leadership scenarios, Sajjad is also involved with several bay area non-profits. His current interests include mobile, internet, social/gaming platforms and cloud-based applications/infrastructure. Sajjad holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and an MSE in Computer Science & Engineering from the Univeristy of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
