    Presentation Overview

Exchanging XML Data With Any Relational Database

XML has become the lingua franca for data exchange, however you often need a traditional relational database to store, query and manipulate this data. In fact, RDBMS provides superior querying abilities, reduced data set size and richer data type support. This session presents you with programmatic ways and methods to exchange XML documents corresponding to any DTD to relational databases.

First, we will show you how to do it using open source software and secondly how to do it using Allora. At last, we will describe the process to make any relational data available as a web service.

    Agenda:

    • XML and databases
    • The mechanics of importing XML to a relational database using Java
    • An example in Java
    • Sharing relational data as a web service
