Description

  • The Monthly Meeting of the Security SIG

    Presentation

2005 has been called the year of Digital Identity. There are many proposals on the market: multi-vendor (Liberty Alliance, SAML, cell phone providers), single dominant vendor (Microsoft Passport), and decentralized bottom-up approaches like OpenID, SXIP or LID (Light-Weight Identity(tm)).

Johannes will provide a brief overview over the philosophies behind them, and the talk in more detail about LID (a light-weight, but powerful, decentralized digital identity technology based on URLs, XPaths and PGP). As digital identity technologies provide a higher abstraction level than but also use other types of security technologies, the avenues of potential attack are different as well; we will spend some time exploring those, and also discuss the contribution LID and other digital identity technologies can bring to the field.
