Credit-card thieves are getting more sophisticated, and the credit-card industry is fighting back. VISA, MasterCard, and other associations have unified behind a new security standard, and are requiring merchants to validate their compliance with it by June 30th, 2005. Penalties for non-compliance can be up to $500,000. We'll discuss who's covered, what's required, and how to validate compliance.

Ames Cornish, Montebello Partners
Ames Cornish is the founder and Managing Partner of Montebello Partners, which provides information security consulting services. Previously, Ames founded and was CEO of Vividus, a venture-capital backed multimedia and Internet software company. Ames has held management positions at Apple Computer and Hewlett-Packard. Ames is on the board of directors for the Software Development Forum and for the bay area chapter of Infragard. Ames holds bachelor's and master's degrees in theoretical physics from Harvard University, an MBA from Stanford University, and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
