Project Voldemort: Scalable Fault Tolerant Distributed Storage at LinkedIn
Web-scale computing has created a need to efficiently store and manage massive data sets with high read/write loads. The majority of applications don't need relational features but need high scalability and performance.At LinkedIn we saw the same issues and have developed Project-Voldemort as a distributed, highly scalable Key Value Storage System based on the Amazon Dynamo project.We will discuss Project-Voldemort architecture, design choices and future roadmap. We will also talk about Project-Voldemort usage at LinkedIn and how it helps LinkedIn serve its many data intensive applications.
Jay Kreps, Principal Engineer, LinkedIn
Jay was the founding member of LinkedIn's data platform team which focuses on algorithms and infrastructure for building data driven products. He is a co-author of Project Voldemort. He holds a BS and MS in computer science from UC Santa Cruz where he studied statistical machine learning.
Bhupesh Bansal, Senior Engineer, LinkedIn
Bhupesh is member of LinkedIn's search and data platform team. He is a commiter for Project-Voldemort and active participant in Hadoop and Pig projects. His interests are large scale distributed systems, algorithms and robotics. Prior to Linkedin he was at Yahoo with the Yahoo search marketing Content-Match team. He holds a BTech from IIT Kharagpur in computer science and Engineering and a MS from USC (Los Angeles) science where he worked on large scale parallel computing and reconfigurable robots.
In his free time Bhupesh loves to play soccer, swim and run, He supports 'Asha for Education' a non-profit working for education in rural India.Location
