She has led teams implementing Deming-inspired lean manufacturing solutions in enterprise supply chain management and digital media, and built one of 3M's first Just-in-Time production systems. As president of Minnesota-based Poppendieck LLC, she brings her trademark humor and plain-spoken wisdom to development teams seeking to hone their innovative power. Her book Lean Software Development: An Agile Toolkit (Addison-Wesley, 2003), which brings lean techniques to software development, won the Software Development Productivity award in 2004.
