Tech Talk: Reliable Multicasting with JavaGroups
Bela Ban - Fujitsu Network Communications
Main Talk: Weblogic Clustering and Monitoring
Reliable Multicasting with JavaGroups
The talk will give an overview of JavaGroups, a Java-based toolkit for reliable multicasting. The goal of the talk is to convey a feeling of what kind of applications can benefit from using JavaGroups.
The presentation will be structured as follows:
Sample small dummy application using unreliable IP multicast
- Issues with using IP multicast
Architecture of JavaGroups - API
- Protocol Stack
- Building Blocks
- Rewriting the sample app using JavaGroups - Benefits
- Real-world example: session clustering with Tomcat
Weblogic Clustering and Monitoring
This will be a deep dive into the technical details of clustering and monitoring, as implemented in Weblogic Server 7.0, given by two of the engineers who implemented these features.
Both Prasad Peddada and Naresh Revanuru are engineers on the core development team for BEA WebLogic Server, working on clustering and RMI. Prasad has also worked on JNDI. They will be giving a half-hour presentation and allowing a half-hour for Q&A.
