    About the Presenter

    Howard Lee

    Howard Lee is a General Partner of Crystal Internet Ventures, a venture capital firm that has focused on investing in Internet-related companies since 1997. Crystal invests in early-stage infrastructure and enabling technology companies that are revolutionizing the way people conduct business, including: Cobalt Networks,, Embrace Networks, Ejasent, and Open Solutions. Howard serves on the boards of InfraVio, Webever, and Reversi Networks and he serves as a board observer at Entopia and RF Solutions. Crystal invests in the US as well as Asia. Investments in China have included (NASDAQ:SINA), Afanti, and Powerbridge.

    Prior to joining Crystal, Howard was a Vice President at the global venture capital firm Crimson Ventures, where he led communications infrastructure investments in the US, including Anda Networks and Geyser Networks. He was Vice President and co-founder of Volendam Capital Advisors, a venture fund that invests in emerging growth high- technology companies focused on communications and software in the US and Europe. His investments at Volendam included Bookham Technologies, an optical components company (NASDAQ:BKHM), and CopperCom, a Voice over broadband access equipment company. Additionally, Howard has held management positions in product marketing at Applied Materials and engineering positions at IBM and Unisys. He was a research investigator in optoelectronics and semiconductor materials at the US Army Research Laboratories.

    Howard holds both BS and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering and Electro Optics from Cornell University, and an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.
