    Please note that, beginning in April, the International SIG will meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month at the Lucie Stern Center in Palo Alto.



    This month, however, the meeting will be held on March 25th.

    Almaz Negash, Director of the Global Leadership and Ethics Program, Markkula Center for Applied Ethics, Santa Clara University.

    Access to global markets - What services can SME's in Silicon Valley get when they need to expand their businesses globally? (And, let's ask Almaz what inspired her move from trade to social issues to become the Director of Global Leadership and Ethics, Santa Clara University.





     

    Speaker Biography

    As director of the Global Leadership and Ethics Program, Almaz Negash works with the InterAction Council, a global association of former heads of state and heads of government founded in 1983. The project seeks to harness the moral voice of world leaders and the power of media to advance workable solutions to worldwide problems.



    Prior to joining the Markkula Center, Almaz was the director of the Silicon Valley Center for International Trade (SVCITD) and the California Mexico Trade Assistant Center (CMTAC). She was responsible for overall management of a consulting and educational center designed to foster small and medium sized business in Silicon Valley to export, import, form strategic alliances and joint venture partnerships.



    As an International Business Development Manager, she worked for many years with the Bay Area World Trade Center in San Francisco. Almaz was also a key person in hosting high-level government and business delegations from around the world and providing them with customized training and presentations on issues related to international trade and education.



    Almaz, originally from Eritrea, holds an MBA from Golden Gate University and a B.A. in International Business from University of San Francisco. She has studied related subjects in Japan and the Netherlands.
