Managed Telephony Services - The ASP Model for Communications

The same market forces that brought the ASP model to the data and software worlds are beginning to change the way that telecommunications services are delivered. New hosted, or managed communications applications and services provided via the ASP model enable businesses to replace their legacy PBX, Centrex or key system with outsourced services that provide new “blended” communications services and improved management and provisioning features. This presentation will look at the technical and software development impacts of developing and deploying carrier-grade managed telephony services. Key development issues include providing 99.999% availability using voice over IP (VOIP), SIP and VoiceXML while still allowing for personalization of services by administrators and end-users.
