Michael Roberts is the senior executive editor of Outside magazine, America’s leading active lifestyle brand, with some 2.4 million readers a month. He’s also the editorial director of the magazine’s iPad app, Outside+, and a regular contributor to Outside’s website and Outside Television, the brand’s cable network.
In his 14 years at Outside, Michael has worked on numerous sports and technology stories, covering everything from innovations in gear and apparel to the personalities, culture, and business of the outdoor sports world. His feature profile of biologist Wallace J. Nichols was selected for the 2012 edition of The Best American Science and Nature Writing. Michael has interviewed numerous high-profile subjects for Outside, including Tom Brokaw, Harrison Ford, James Cameron, Shaun White, and Tim Ferris. He has also been a frequent expert commentator on network and cable television, making appearances on Today, Good Morning America, The Early Show, The O’Reilly Factor, and other programs.
Michael is an avid cyclist, runner, and skier He graduated in 1996 from Wesleyan University, where he majored in sociology. He lives in Marin County, California.
