Well, search no further, the Marketing SIG is proud to present its second annual holiday party/event which will give you such a jolt in your seats that you will be trying to get the static out of your socks until the next year. Partnering up with Vator.tv, we bring you the most prominent leaders in the wireless electricity industry who will talk about why wireless electricity is an important innovation, the various forms, how big the wireless electricity market is, and why this powerful technology is changing the world.

    STEVE DAY: President Founding Creative Director of Malabar Technologies Inc. Malabar Partners, LLC

     

    Steve Day is also Founding Creative Director of Malabar Partners, a program-driven consultancy specializing in strategy, commercialization and marketing of technology, energy startups and emerging organizations.  In wireless power, Mr. Day is currently working with KCF Technologies to commercialize a wide range of applied technology in energy harvesting including piezo, kinetic, solar and thermal harvesting devices.  Steve Day is also President & CEO of Malabar Technologies, an SOA development company focusing on development of an enterprise multi-site energy management software system. 

    Mr. Day has over 30 years of senior executive experience in high technology including executive roles at Times Mirror, ADC Telecom and Marconi PLC.  He was Vice President Marketing for TrueBaseline, which introduced the first SOA operating system to federate multi-network telecommunication service, and standardizing this with the IPSphere Forum and major Telecom carriers.  He was Vice President of Strategy & Marketing for Powercast, and responsible for development and marketing of wireless charging systems including lighting, consumer electronics and wireless sensors. 

    Mr. Day has spoken or published for well over 30 outlets, and has subject matter expertise in public policy & economic development, strategic planning & marketing,  Communications, multimedia technology, and wireless/alternative energy.  Steve is currently finishing a Masters degree from University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Policy and International Affairs.  He has been in leadership or teaching roles with CableLabs, SMPTE, Pennsylvania League of Cities, Bell Atlantic Professional Services, SCTE, IEEE, Sprint University of Excellence, Richard Thornburgh Forum for Law and Public Policy, University of Pittsburgh GSPIA Innovation Clinic, and many interesting and diverse organizations.  He has a BA of Economics from the College of  Wooster.

     

     

     

    CHRISTOPHER SURDI : Marketing Specialist at PowerBeam

    Mr. Surdi is a serial entrepreneur with a specialty in Marketing and Business Development. His interest in life changing, disruptive technologies is what attracted him to PowerBeam. Mr. Surdi firmly believes that PowerBeam has figured out what scientists have been trying to discover since the discovery of the light bulb and feels that wireless electricity will not only improve our current electrical needs but will spawn a wave of new inventions and technologies useful on this earth and beyond.

    Mr. Surdi has extensive knowledge in the start up environment, has many entrepreneurial achievements and a great deal of experience in leadership. In 2002, Mr. Surdi launched an internet company called Phastcash.com which returned its investment in nine months. In 2006, he co-founded a company called Global Educational Program which is currently the premier firm providing Business Development for foreign executives and students in the Silicon Valley. He has also won a number of awards in entrepreneurship at both the local and national level.

    AFSHIN PARTOVI, Founder, CEO, Mojo Mobility Inc.

    Afshin has over 20 years of executive experience in a number of Management and Technical roles in Multi-Billion Dollar companies and Startups.  Before founding Mojo Mobility in 2005, Afshin was the CEO of a consulting company that was managing a 150 million Euro portfolio of 50 different Technology projects in hardware for the government of Republic of Ireland.  Prior to that, Afshin led all Product Management and Product Dev at Digilens, a Networking Startup in Silicon Valley. Afshin previously managed Strategy and Business Development for Lucent’s Broadband Networks Business Unit.  Earlier in his career, he has had management and product development roles at Bell Laboratories, AT&T, Hughes Corp, and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratories. 
    Afshin holds  a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from University of Southern California and MBA from Columbia University.

    Augie Rakow

    Augie is an associate in the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation Group where his practice focuses on technology litigation in U.S. federal courts and provides strategic advice for emerging renewable energy and energy efficiency companies.

    In 2009, Augie founded the Harvard Club of San Francisco’s Cleantech Thought Leader Series, a semi-monthly series of public lectures and presentations featuring distinguished leaders in solar energy, wind power, electric transportation, water management and the other fields of clean energy and environmental technology. 

    Augie graduated from U.C. Berkeley with high honors in history in 1995 and pursued graduate studies in theology and intellectual history at Harvard University before becoming a lawyer. In law school, he served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Ronald M. Whyte in federal U.S. District Court, Northern District of California. He is admitted to practice before the Northern District of California and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
