    Presentation Overview

Channel Marketing Programs: Is it Possible to Make Both Sarbanes and Oxley Happy

After the November 15th Sarbanes-Oxley compliance deadline, many companies started to realize that there is much misinformation about the legislation that impacts public companies and their sales and marketing programs. Confusion about Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), Federal Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and other rulings may make a typical channel manager a bit nervous about executing channel or trade promotion programs like they have in the past. How do the rulings impact programs? What is the impact? How can a manager still get results without being in violation of new rulings?

This presentation will cover the ten easy steps for ongoing program compliance. In the presentation, your members will learn:

    • A brief history and definition of Sarbanes-Oxley Act and relevant Federal Accounting Standards Board regulations.
    • Definitions of requirements and consequences of non-compliance.
    • How to determine which financial model a company should follow.
    • Designing a program and documenting guidelines that support each type of financial model.
    • How to properly document program guidelines and account for costs.
    • Defining “proof of performance” for campaigns and maintaining proper documentation.
    • How to account for exceptions.
    • What are “internal controls” and what are the easy ways to establish them?
    • Results and examples through case studies on public companies who have achieved compliance and efficiencies in their programs.
