    Presentation Overview

Everyone in high-tech resists project management even though projects are the life-blood of new product development. It takes too much effort to create project plans, and even more to keep them up to date. Even when plans are created and updated, one cannot follow them: tasks do not finish on time; resources are not available when needed; and no one knows if projects will meet all their targets.

Traditional project management assumes a perfect world, one that does not exist. High-tech product development projects are uncertain by definition. Moreover, these uncertainties multiply because of shared resources and dependencies between projects. Traditional project management can neither control these uncertainties from multiplying nor help you manage the interactions across projects.

Project Flow: a breakthrough! Project Flow is a proven approach to managing multiple projects with high uncertainties. Based on the theory of constraints and critical chain, Project Flow is used by a wide range of leading companies to do more projects faster and finish them on target.

    What will be covered:

    • Why traditional project management doesn’t work in high-tech product development.
    • The logic behind Project Flow solution.
    • How companies like Lucent, LSI, and HP are using Project Flow to increase project throughput, improve manageability and reduce stress on people.
