  • 50-minute appointments with Tom Knight & Jerry Mar

    Meet with SCORE (Service Corp for Retired Executives) counselors who have experience in the high tech industry. These experienced business experts provide general business advice on everything from how to write a business plan, to cash flow management, to developing a small business advisory board. Assistance for aspiring entrepreneurs may involve investigating the market potential for a product or service and assessing the capital needs to start a business. Counselors can provide insight into how to start a business, operate a business, buy a business or franchise and sell a business.

    Counselors:
     

    Tom Knight

    Tom worked 27 years for large corporations and also founded, obtained financing and operated his own small company for 13 years. This company evolved into one of the first three computer retailers here in Silicon Valley. He spent 20 years with GE as well as seven years with Fairchild and Fujitsu. His experience is concentrated in Sales, Marketing and General Management. He has a broad understanding of direct, distribution and retail sales.

    Jerry Mar
    Jerry has a BS and PHD in Physics. His experience includes 4 years at Bell Telephone Labs, 2 years as an independent consultant, and 27 years at INTEL. This involved semiconductor, dynamic RAM and memory technologies. His final position was Director of CAD Technology with corporate responsibility for modeling & simulation of processes, devices and circuits. He has ten Patents and has published books and papers on personal computing.
