Click here to Register on the SVForum Healthcare IT SIG Meetup site. REQUIRED!Emergency Departments (ED) IT needs are increasingly addressed by specially-tailored solutions. At least half a dozen companies offer Emergency Department Information System (EDIS) software. In addition, according to EMS World, a publication for Emergency Responders, “…many EMS agencies have begun to transition to electronic patient care reports (e-PCR).” These involve the transmission of patient data from the ambulance to the ED.This month’s meeting includes a description of the MEDIVIEW™ platform that connects ambulances and hospitals to deliver patient data to the ED from the field, speeding up the care that can be given when the patient arrives. After hearing about MEDIVIEW™, we’ll have a panel discussion that will include:• EMR use after the patient arrives in the ED - highlighting differences from clinics and regular hospital environments• how the ED figures into the entire care-continuum in the coming Accountable Care Organization (ACO) paradigm• how IT systems and Health Information Exchange (HIE) networks align to manage patients through the ED-inpatient process• the use of disease registries to help patients with chronic conditions who visit multiple Emergency DepartmentsOur presenters and panelists include

David P Feldman MD, MBA, FACEP, CEO & Co-Founder, InterfaceED Solutions
Dr. Feldman is the CEO and Co-Founder of InterfaceED Solutions. It is a start up currently in early Beta testing that focuses on the usability aspect of EHR's. Its first product is InterfaceED, a SAAS product that allows the physician to document as the way they think and create a clinical note in under a minute. It provides decision support and is routed in the fundamentals of current best practice literature. Patent Pending, InterfaceED re-invents the user experience for physicians and medical providers. Instead of taking 8 to 10 minutes per patient care note, having a poor experience and generating a note that is worse than pre-EHR documentation norms, InterfaceED allows for a robust note, that reads as a dictation with natural language would, with better decision support, greater billing capture and superior medico-legal protection. It not only gives a complete note, but allows the user to make a better diagnosis and satisfice the highest risk differential alternatives. In a typical ER shift a physician will see about 20 patients. Measured to save an average of 5 to 6 minutes per note, InterfaceED saves 100 to 120 minutes of documentation time that can be better spent with direct patient care and going home "on time".
Dr. Feldman is also an Angel investor with Health Tech Capital and is active with their screening committee and annual conference. He advises a number of start up's in the area in the EHR, ED operations and analytics space.
Dr. Feldman currently practices Emergency Medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital, where he is Vice Chair and Assistant Medical Director for the ED. He also practices at El Camino Hospital Mountain View where he just stepped down as Vice Chair and Assistant Medical Director at the end of 2012. He is a Partner with CEP America. He also does clinical speaking within the Emergency Medicine community.
Dr. Feldman went to a combined MD/MBA program at UCLA from 1995 to 2000. He then trained at the Harvard Emergency Medicine Residency from 2000 to 2004. At Harvard he was Chief Resident and a Clinical Fellow at the Harvard Medical School. After residency he was a Clinical Instructor at Georgetown University for one year, then decided to move back to California shortly after meeting his wife.
