Dr. Jane A. "Xan" Alexander serves as the Deputy Director of HSARPA, the external funding arm for the Science and Technology Directorate at the Department of Homeland Security.

    Program Overview

This half-day educational event will explain how Silicon Valley organizations can tap into funds becoming available from the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate, which was established to help research and organize the nation's scientific, engineering and technical resources to protect the homeland. DHS' Science and Technology Directorate, and its Homeland Security Advanced Research Projects Agency (HSARPA), will have over $1B to spend on technologies that advance the cause of securing the homeland. HSARPA's role is to engage the private sector, the universities, and the national labs for rapid prototyping and deployment of new HLS technologies.

Attendees will learn about HSARPA's priorities, timeframes, and processes; how your organization can be a part of the hottest, cutting-edge business opportunities in the Federal market today; and how you should approach key government decision makers. In addition, attendees will get a general perspective on Federal government I.T. spending plans for the next year, with a focus on Homeland Security, and learn more about the State of California's state and local homeland security priorities.
