    Presentation Overview

Mandated by Government, Confounded by Academics, Abused by Consultants, Made Right by CyberAlliances: Using Earned Value Techniques to Manage Outsourced Software Development Projects.

Whether onshore or offshore, companies have been outsourcing software development projects for decades and are expected to do so even more frequently in the foreseeable future. Outsourcing a software development project typically involves managing multiple teams distributed across functions, organizations, companies, time zones and even countries. In such a complex environment where project control and execution processes are distributed across many dimensions, Project managers need successful tools and techniques to ensure that their software is being developed to specifications, will be delivered on time and within budget. Software development managers need real-time visibility into the state of their projects so that they can proactively take corrective action. Moreover, Project managers need repeatable workflows that can be easily duplicated throughout their companies as and when necessary. In this presentation, we will discuss how Earned Value Management techniques powered by CyberAlliances 2.0, a web service integral to the company's outsourcing services delivery model, can be used effortlessly to manage successful software development projects.
