Business Intelligence in a Social eCommerce System
The Monthly Meeting of the Business Intelligence SIG
Neel Sundaresan, Distinguished Research Scientist, eBay Research Labs
This talk discusses the nature of a social ecommerce system of which eBay is a prime example. Buyers and sellers come together to look for, bid and buy or to list and sell products creating a phenomenon of electronic interaction for the purpose of trade. Unacquainted users are connected through the transactions and associated feedbacks into circles of familiarity or trust for this purpose.
We discuss the tools and techniques required to build an intelligence model behind this network to better understand these buyer and seller behaviors, enhance user experience and promote better commerce relationships.
