Business Intelligence SIG: Open Source BI: The OpenI Story
The Monthly Meeting of the Business Intelligence SIG
Sandeep Giri, Co-founder and SVP of R&D Loyalty Matrix, Inc. Loyaltymatrix
The goal of BI is to transform data into actionable insights. Commercial BI tools provide a black-box infrastructure, leaving the end user to figure out how to fit their data in the required form and extract intelligence. In practice the process is painful, expensive and time-consuming. OpenI is a new open source project that opens up the BI Infrastructure so that solution providers can deliver "Intelligence" without getting boxed in by proprietary infrastructure.
This presentation starts by looking at the components of a BI platform, and discusses how open source software can fulfill these needs. The OpenI platform is introduced and its capabilities demonstrated through case studies.
