    The Emergence of Portal Platforms

    Enterprise portals are the primary aggregation and access points that enable employees, partners, suppliers and customers to collaborate aand function efficiently across the internet.

    Portals reduce the cost and implementation time of enterprise applications such as customer relationship management, commerce and supply chain management, and employee knowledge management. These customer-focused business applications drive the creation of new business value, which is key to competitive differentiation.

    This talk will examine the key dynamics of the portal market and give an in depth review of the BEA WebLogic Portal 4.0 product.

    About the Presenter

    Richard Treadway

    Richard Treadway manages the Weblogic Portal product management and engineering groups at BEA Systems.

    Prior to joining BEA Systems, Treadway held various engineering and marketing positions at Digital Equipment, SCO and Rainmaker Systems. While at Digital he was instrumental in creating the X Window and Motif standards. While at SCO, Treadway managed the SCO UNIX engineering group and was responsible for delivering numerous award winning products including Internet FastStart, SCO’s first integrated Internet server which won a Best of Lan Times award in 1996.
