JAVA SIG: 3D in Java? How? Why?
...and Simplifying J2EE application and Java Web Services Development with Sun ONE Studio 5, Standard Edition
3D in Java? How? Why?
3D graphics in Java is as viable as anywhere, and in addition allows applications to utilize the power of Java in the 3D arena. This talk will discuss the Java APIs currently available for 3D graphics, with a focus on Java 3D. Then I will describe the Digital Shuttle, a NASA project to build a knowledge management system that describes the Space Shuttle Orbiter, that relies on 3D graphics as the primary mechanism for accessing content and understanding information structure.
