    Presentation Overview

Web Services, ASP’s and Business Value

One of the benefits of Web Services is that they allow the exposure of functionality previously hidden behind the firewall. Companies can capitalize on this exposure to bring new business value to their customers or vendors. In one sense this sounds much like the recent promise of the Application Service Provider (ASP). ASP's also promised to add business value by relocating business process elements outside the firewall. This session will feature two speakers who will help us understand the relationship between the two methodologies.

John McDowall, CTO of Grand Central will discuss the need for a network-based web services management framework, which can be thought of as an analog to the development of a international phone network. He will help us understand the value add brought by using a service provider model, giving specific business deployment examples.

Steve Kusmer, CEO of Atomz will provide a real-life example of a "web native" ASP that is implementing Web Services. He will share his direct experience, the compelling propositions leading Atomz to Web Services, and how this brings tangible business value.
