Venture Finance SIG: POSTPONED -Recession or not: What will be the impact on raising venture capital

The Monthly Meeting of the Venture Finance

“Recession or not: What will be the impact on raising venture capital”

Are we in a recession? Many people claim that we are already in one. So the question that many entrepreneurs need to ask and are asking is – What should be our fundraising strategy?

We have seen similar situation back in the 2001-2003 days when it was very difficult to raise venture capital. Are things going to become that bad again in days to come? Even if the situation may not be as severe as back then, one needs to keep in mind the tribulations that could be ahead. The panel will focus on answering the following questions:

    1. Does it appear that the number of venture deals done will go down in the near future?

    2. What should the entrepreneur do in order to go through the tough times ahead – raise money right now, raise more money than one would need?

    3. How does one choose a venture capital firm? Will they stick with the company in the tough times?

    4. What operational changes should a company bring into its operations to make sure that they emerge a winner?
