    These private, 25-minute meetings allow start-up members to request advice, make a pitch for funding or get feedback on a business plan. These appointments are filled by random selection from all pre-registered Start-Up members who fit the eligibility criteria outlined in the VC One on One Process.

    Alta Partners: Robert Simon
    Investments currently focus on semiconductor, networking, enterprise software, Internet infrastructure, network security and data storage.

    Robert Simon joined Alta Partners in July of 2000. Mr. Simon has 17 years experience working with and founding software development and Internet companies. For the past three years, Mr. Simon was a Venture Partner with Sierra Ventures investing in data storage and enterprise software companies. Also, he founded and was President of DotBank.com (http://docs.yahoo.com/docs/pr/release496.html), acquired by Yahoo in February 2000. Prior to joining Sierra, Mr. Simon was co-founder and Executive Vice President of Navitel Communications, Inc. Prior to Navitel, Mr. Simon was the founder and President of Virgil Corporation, which developed and marketed software for retrieving financial information from the Internet and online services. Before Virgil, Mr. Simon was a Director for Lotus Development Corporation at their Lotus West offices. Prior to that, he was the President and Founder of PS Publishing. Mr. Simon started his career in 1983 as General Manager and co-founder of T/Maker Graphics. Mr. Simon holds Bachelors and Masters of Science degrees in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University.
