    SDForum is proud to announce a new quarterly Venture Breakfast Series in partnership with PWC. This new series starts March 6th, and will provide the facts about different sectors of investing.

    • What’s really happening in venture investing?
    • What do you need to know about and why should you care?

      Presentation Overview:

      Steve Bengston, who runs the Emerging Company Services Group at Price Waterhouse Coopers, will open the discussion with an in depth statistics provided by PWC’s Money Tree followed by a panel discussion of the inside story behind the numbers and what investors see as the trends in the current market.

      The series will kick off with a focus on Seed Investment, and prominent investors such as Tom Shields from Woodside Funds sharing their perspectives.



      Steve Bengston runs the Emerging Company Services (ECS) group at PricewaterhouseCoopers. ECS helps companies informally with referrals to investors and other people that can help startups and more formally with services like audit and tax. Steve also presents the Money Tree data each quarter which summarizes venture capital investment results and trends

      Larry Kubal from Labrador Ventures, has invested in seed and early stage information technology companies for the last 17 years. He is a founder of Labrador Ventures and is the Labrador representative with portfolio companies Aperto NetworksMeeVeePandora, and Teraburst Networks

      Allison Leopold Tilley a partner at Pillsbury Winthrop focuses on the representation of technology companies in securities and venture capital transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, private placements, public offerings, venture funds and joint ventures. She has significant experience representing acquirers and target companies. Ms. Leopold Tilley is co-head of the Firm’s Information Technology Practice Team, Head of the Silicon Valley Business and Technology Group and co-head of the Southeast Asia Specialty

      Jim Marshall co-founded Selby Venture Partners in 1998. He currently focuses his investments in software and consumer services. Jim draws on expertise developed during his nine years in various positions at Silicon Valley Bank. While there, he worked closely with more than 75 early-stage, emerging growth technology companies. In his last position as Vice President of the Commercial Software Practice, he worked with a number of venture-backed software and Internet companies including Accrue Software, BEA Systems, Broadbase Software, E.piphany and Nuance Communications. Jim has sourced or led Selby's investments in Blue Pumpkin Software (acquired by Witness Systems), ConsumerReview (acquired by E-centives), and Panopticon (acquired by Kana, NASDAQ:KANAE). Jim is also a board member of the Silicon Valley Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth, the VC Angel Roundtable, and the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Santa Clara

      Bill Reichert is a Managing Director at Garage Technology Ventures. Bill has over 20 years of experience as an entrepreneur and an operating executive. Since joining Garage in 1998, Bill has focused on early-stage information technology and materials science companies. Prior to Garage, Bill was a co-founder or senior executive in several venture-backed technology startups, including Trademark Software, The Learning Company and Academic Systems

      Richard Wong joined Accel in 2006, with a focus on mobile and broadband services software, as well as messaging and security applications. Rich remains active as a Board Member of the MIT CNC - Entrepreneurship Program, the CTIA Wireless Internet Caucus, and has served as an board advisor to a range of mobile and internet startups including, 4thMedia, Plaxo, Zoove, Simplicita, and Sana Security.
