    Presentation Overview

    Advanced Windows Forms with Billy Hollis

    The capabilities built into .NET allow Windows Forms to easily perform functions that are difficult or impossible in VB6. This session covers many of those capabilities, including drawing to window surfaces using GDI+, inheritance of forms and controls, Extender-Provider controls, and advanced capabilities of the controls in Windows Forms.

    Billy Hollis, Software Developer at Elysian Consulting

    Billy is a software developer, speaker, and author from Nashville, Tennessee. His company focuses on working with commercial software companies to help them move their packages to distributed smart client architectures using Microsoft .NET. Billy is co-author of the first book ever published on Visual Basic .NET, VB.NET Programming on the Public Beta, from Wrox Press, which was produced on Beta 1 of Visual Studio .NET. He is also the co-author of several other books on Microsoft .NET, and writes a monthly column for Microsoft's MSDN site called Adventures in Visual Basic .NET.

    Billy is the MSDN Regional Director for Nashville, TN, and was Regional Director of the Year of 2001. He is a frequent speaker at conferences, including TechEd, Microsoft's Professional Developer Conference (PDC), Comdex, VSLive, and VSConnections.

    At Microsoft's request, Billy served as the co-instructor for all preparation sessions for Microsoft's first .NET Developer Training Tour, thereby training over two hundred instructors who delivered this material world-wide. He continues to teach week-long introductions to .NET at various locations around the country.
