Title: What is BOSH and when would I use it?

Managing Complex VM Environment in Cloud Foundry with BOSH

Abstract: Wouldn't it be incredible to be able to specifically describe what we want for our production systems - what processes to run? using what code bases? running on what infrastructure? Say, as a single YAML document? And wouldn't it be incredible if you could change that YAML document and your running production infrastructure, code bases, processes and data were automatically orchestrated into the new configuration. BOSH can do this.

BOSH was created by the Cloud Foundry team to control and manage their own cloudfoundry.com version of Cloud Foundry. How complex and large? Cloud Foundry is a composition of 40 separate jobs across many, many VMs (I don't know how many). That is, BOSH is designed to scale up to manage large production systems.

There are things that BOSH can do, things that are hard to do, and things its not really able to do. Let's investigate together!
