  • The Netflix Open Source Platform for Scalable and Available Web Services

    Over the last few years Netflix has rebuilt it's platform architecture
    to optimize for highly agile cloud based development of an inherently
    scalable and available set of web services. Over the last year many
    components of the platform have been released as open source projects
    at This talk will give an overview of the
    architecture, discuss scalability and availability proof points and
    benchmarks, and summarize the current and upcoming open source
    projects from Netflix.

    Presenter: Adrian Cockcroft is the director of architecture for the Cloud Systems
    team at Netflix
    . He is focused on availability, resilience,
    performance, and measurement of the Netflix cloud platform, and has
    presented at many conferences, including QCon/GOTO, Cloud Connect,
    Gluecon and Structure. Adrian is also well known as the author of
    several books while a Distinguished Engineer at Sun Microsystems: Sun
    Performance and Tuning; Resource Management; and Capacity Planning for
    Web Services.

    From 2004-2007 he was a founding member of eBay Research Labs. He
    graduated with a BSc in Applied Physics from The City University,
