Tom Pageler, Director for Fraud Control, Visa USA
As a former Secret Service special agent and now Visa Director for Fraud Control, Tom is in a special position to know who the CyberCriminals are, how they're organized, what they're after, and how they break in. Tom will present real life cases from his experience at VISA and the Secret Service.
At Visa, Tom coordinates the forensic investigations of compromised entities as well as analyzing fraud trends involving compromised accounts. He works closely with Visa’s Risk Intelligence Operations (RIO) in an effort to identify new fraud patterns as well as Card Holder Information Security Program (CISP) to ensure hacked entities comply with Visa’s data security standards.
Prior to Visa, Tom spent 6 years as a Computer Forensic Trained Special Agent with the United States Secret Service, assigned to the San Francisco Electronic Crimes Task Force. Specifically, Tom worked area of the distribution of malware and network intrusions cases, both areas that significantly impact the payment card systems. Tom graduate of the University of Arizona, earning a degree in Public Administration with a Criminal Justice Major from the College of Business.
