    Presentation Overview

Tim Miller will present Internet merger and acquisition analysis based on Webmergers' analysis of more than 1,000 Internet M&A deals. Miller will also ask some provocative questions - is M&A taking on a new role in creating value in new economy businesses? The session will highlight Web M&A growth trends from 1998 to present and take a look at some of the M&A strategies being used by companies ranging from Microsoft to Internet.com. The presentation will, in particular, examine a recent surge in B2B deal making and examine merger strategies that are being used by companies like BuildNet to build B2B marketplaces. Miller will also present an overview of "fire sales" and other coping actions taken by distressed dot coms in the current depressed marketplace and will make some predictions about M&A activity in 2001.
