Neal Hansch, Associate, Rustic Canyon. Neal brings over a decade of experience in venture capital, technology operations and investment banking. Before joining Rustic Canyon, Neal worked in the Corporate Development group at Macromedia, where he was responsible for executing worldwide M&A transactions and strategic equity investments. Prior to Macromedia, Neal was at Technology Crossover Ventures, where he focused on investments in the software, networking infrastructure and e-commerce industries. He has also worked in Product Marketing at webMethods (Nasdaq: WEBM), a leading enterprise application integration company, and co-founded a start-up that provides popular software extensions for Web development tools. Neal began his career as a financial analyst in the Software Group at Robertson Stephens, where he worked with clients such as BEA, BroadVision, HNC, Hyperion, Informatica and Intuit.
Richard Allan Horning, Orrick is a Principal at Fish & Richardson P.C., in Redwood City, California. He has been representing technology companies in Silicon Valley, and globally, since 1970. Mr. Horning has worked with a wide spectrum of clients, from the classic "garage-based" start-up to Fortune 500 multi-nationals. He specializes in counseling high technology companies in all stages of development on domestic and international issues, including financing growth and development, securing, protecting and licensing intellectual property rights, supply and distribution relationships including antitrust and unfair competition considerations, and dispute resolution affecting technology driven industries.
Eric Ries is co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of IMVU. He is the co-author of several books including _The Black Art of Java Game Programming_ (Waite Group Press, 1996). While an undergraduate at Yale Unviersity, he co-founded Catalyst Recruiting. Although Catalyst folded with the dot-com crash, Ries continued his entrepreneurial career as a Senior Software Engineer at There.com, leading efforts in agile software development and user-generated content. In 2007, BusinessWeek.com named Ries one of the Tech's Best Young Entrepreneurs. He serves on the advisory board of many technology startups including pbWiki, Sonicswap, Bunchball, Speeddate and illumobile.
Todd Sawicki,VP Marketing - Lookery. Todd is a geek from Seattle and with close to 15 years of experience with online startups, media companies and everything in between. With senior management experience with early stage startups to emerging venture backed companies, Todd survived the dot com boom to participate in the rise of web 2.0 while hopefully learning a thing or two about online marketing along the way.
Currently as VP Marketing for Lookery, he's helping build and launch the first demographic marketing service that goes beyond the walls of existing social networks. Todd also runs Sawickipedia - his marketing consultancy and blog - where he works with innovative startups including Loomia, Nirvanix, blist, Ripl and JamGlue. Previously, Todd has led marketing at Zango, Spock, and Loudeye. Todd also co-founded SimplyTV.net, an early player in online video. Prior to co-founding SimplyTV, Todd worked at the Disney Channel. Todd is currently on the advisory boards of Others Online and Facebar.
Richard Yen, Principal at Blueprint Ventures. Richard brings over 11 years of experience in high-tech entrepreneurial operations, having built, advised, and invested in early-stage ventures over the course of his career.
Prior to joining Blueprint, Richard was at Rustic Canyon Partners, an early-stage technology venture capital firm. Richard focused on investment opportunities in the open source software, infrastructure software, and wireless spaces. In his prior operating roles, Richard was Director of Technology at ShockMarket, an Internet software startup that raised $6 million in venture funding. As the fourth employee, Richard owned multiple product lines, closed sales of first-generation products, and oversaw software development. Previously, Richard was an early employee at D. E. Shaw & Co.'s Internet incubator, where he served as the technical liaison to Fortune 100 business partners.
Jian Zhang is CEO of Tradescape, Inc. a technology startup developing critical enabling technology and services to dramatically improve efficiency of digital economies. Tradescape technology allows traditional media companies to transition their business models and new media companies to implement and optimize new business models. Through a unique mix of proprietary technology, industry expertise and critical business services, Tradescape enables its industry leading customers to monetize content, applications and rights effectively, share value efficiently and roll out new business models quickly. At Tradescape, Jian leads a team of software technologists and former media industry executives to help Tradescape's customers solve some of the most critical business problems as they grasp the opportunities associated with digital media and social media. Prior to founding Tradescape, Jian headed New Network Services product group at Portal Software (now part of Oracle) and was responsible for a line of telecom billing product offerings for online and mobile content and media service providers.
