Mktg SIG: .NET: Marketing, Partnering, and BizDev Perspectives
John Fernandes, Director, Business Development and Strategy Emerging Business Team - Microsoft Corporation.
Please Note - Location & Time Change for October's Meeting.
See details below.
The world of Windows computing is moving to .NET, Microsoft's set of next-generation technologies for connecting information, people, systems, and devices. Based on the model of XML web services, the .NET initiative is much more than the introduction of a new operating system or development environment - it is Microsoft's "bet-the-company" strategy for innovation and leadership as the world moves toward increasingly connected and distributed computing.
The transition to .NET has significant implications for the software industry -- start-ups that are choosing their development platform, mature companies that have made substantial investments in Windows application development, and even companies that have already chosen non-Microsoft platforms. Whether a developer, a business manager, a product manager, a marketer, or a consultant, understanding .NET and its implications is crucial to your success in the coming years.
In this session, John Fernandes will provide an overview of Microsoft's .NET platform and strategy, and the implications it has for marketers and business development. He will cover:
- what .NET is and what advantages it offers customers over current technologies
- current .NET deployments in startups and customer ecosystem
- impacts of .NET on business strategies and marketing campaigns
- experiences working with startups and ISVs who want to partner with Microsoft
- resources and programs available from Microsoft to developers and marketers
You'll come away with a better understanding of the changes that .NET will bring to the computing world, and ideas for how to take advantage of those changes instead of being left behind by them.
