The financial rewards that accompany many job offers nowadays are shrinking dramatically due to the depressed economy and saturated job market. The competition for every open position is fierce, with many qualified applicants. Salary cuts of 10-30% are commonplace. Are you concerned about successfully negotiating a satisfactory salary in a competitive job market?
Though compensation is more than a dollar amount and number of stock options, we tend to focus just on the monetary aspects of an offer to the exclusion of the entire package. Learn tangible guidelines on how to work through the three basic steps of negotiation with any employer while avoid timing mistakes. Be able to create a conversation about your compensation between equals.
Gain valuable insights on how to:
- Analyze companies and their compensation packages against your own criteria. Figure out what things are really not optional, identify your personal criteria, and determine the trade-offs you are willing to make.
- Effectively be able to handle the entire negotiation process from the initial money questions like "what are you currently making to handling details like severance packages."
- Find out the necessary tools and terminology used in figuring out stock option packages to better determine the quality of the offer.
