Engineering Leadership SIG: Kill Agile
Topic: Kill Agile
Speaker: John Levy, Principal, John Levy Consulting
WIIFM: Agile is poised to take over the world of software development. Or is it? As Agile initiatives are launched in large corporations, the entrenched bureaucracies and old leaders fight back actively and passively. Learn what weapons they have for killing your Agile initiatives and how you can outmaneuver them so that Agile rules.
Program Description–Begins promptly @ 7 PM
John will discuss how to succeed with Agile in an enterprise:
· Launch Agile: Leveraging from a highly visible failure, and with executive support, start an Agile project in one corner of the enterprise.
· Deliver value Build on the team’s growing velocity to wow the customers with software that works, willingness to change, and “no surprises.”
· Be prepared for the reaction Expect resistance and active opposition from all corners. Recruit allies and keep selling the results.
· Rebuild executive support and move Agile into new areas of IT. Keep teaching the lessons of agility.
