Engineering Leadership SIG: Innovation Games

  • Title: Innovation Games: The Seriously Fun Way To Do Work. Seriously.
Sub-Title: How collaborative play can help you create breakthrough products and services.
Innovation Games are serious games for working with small groups of customers to create higher value products and services. They are a means of fueling innovation by understanding what your customers really want. They have used by companies such as SAP, QUALCOMM, Emerson Climate Technologies, and Genesys to improve existing products and services and create new ones. In this talk, Luke Hohmann, author of Innovation Games: Creating Breakthrough Products Through Collaborative Play, will show how Innovation Games can be used in New Product Development and ongoing product development processes to collaboratively identify, shape, and prioritize breakthrough products and services. This hands-on learning experience will feature both in-person and online games and a simple, yet highly effective, process for delivering innovative products and services. Bring your laptop and a playful attitude.

“Innovation Games give you many creative ways to gather keen insights and nuggets of understanding that can make all the difference in deciding which problems you choose to solve for your customers and how well you can achieve that ultimate goal of delivering superior products to the market.”
    Joan Waltman, Sr. VP, Qualcomm
“Innovation Games® look like fun, because they are. But underneath, these are serious tools to collaborate with customers and co-innovate with partners. SAP has effectively used several of them to discover what our ecosystem thinks, what they want, and specifically how we can design our products to meet their needs.”
    Aaron Williams, VP, SAP
