Enabling Technologies for Pervasive Computing
Bulent Celebi (Bio), CEO, Ubicom
Steve Kingsley-Jones (Bio), VP Engineering, Blue Iguana Networks
Jorg Huser (Bio), Director of System Integration, UltraCard, Inc.
Tushar Trivedi (Bio), Chief Information Officer, Fugensoft Inc.
Today, Pervasive Computing is a vision for what can be built, as well as for what the applications are and will be.
Pervasive Computing is also an umbrella phrase for a philosophy on how to assemble technologies to build the components that implement this vision. Many of these technologies are now present or presently evolving, which is why we are now seeing pioneer startups, such as Blue Iguana and graviton. Humans have never before deployed massively distributed systems of intelligent inter-communicating computers. But we have the mathematics, AI (neural nets), and other 20th century research to apply to the problems, to create 21st century systems.
Panelists at this event will show "what piece of the action" they have today, and what they might do to make it work in a Pervasive Computing environment in the future.
As for the SDForum Pervasive Computing group itself, our events are intended to be catalytic as well as informative; our goal is to provide a gathering that can assist in the creation of value for existing Pervasive Computing businesses, and lead to the formation of new Pervasive Computing startups.
