Cloud Computing & Virtualization SIG: Build your own Cloud Hardware
Cloud and virtualization software is designed to run on low-cost commodity hardware. However, major hardware vendors have all but ignored this low-margin commodity-server market to focus on selling more profitable enterprise servers or large cloud infrastructure projects like the Open Compute Project.
In this talk and demonstration about a forthcoming Kickstarter project we will discussissues related to building virtualizable commodity-priced servers to run Cloud software like OpenStack, CloudStack and Eucalyptus using off the shelf components and what was learned in the process. These specifications are 'OPEN', so if you want to create your own cloud server stack, you will learn a lot.
