Business Intelligence: The State of Play
In the last two years the Business Intelligence SIG has heard talks on many topics including Customer Relationship Management, Data Mining, Portals, Supply Chain Management. In this session led by a SIG Chair, we will pull these threads together to look at the current state of play in Business Intelligence.
First we will discuss what Business Intelligence is and what are its subject areas. Then we will look at two important recent trends in the market. The first trend is the emergence of a "Business Intelligence Platform" that many vendors are claiming to have. The reality of these claims will be dissected. The second trend is the move towards packaged "Analytic Applications". The content and value of this packaging will be examined. Finally we will talk about future directions for Business Intelligence. As always audience participation will be greatly appreciated.
